This website was created by the Year 11 Local History class at Northside Christian College.
Through visits to various sites, as well as some in depth research, we're aiming to create an interactive resource to help others learn about the rich history from this area.
The history of Bundoora is a microcosm of the history of Australia reflecting changes caused by white settlement, the discovery of gold, the outbreaks of world wars and the rapid growth of the population after WWII due to the baby boom and the arrival of wave after wave of migrants from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Bundoora reflects the growth in prosperity of many new comers to the area as the humble dwellings of the first suburban housing estate now exist side by side with substantial and expensive modern homes.
Bundoora also has its unique story, particularly with the government investment in hospitals in this area, Mont Park, Larundel and later North Park Hospital just to name a few. Bundoora has also seen great investment in education - La Trobe University and RMIT. These institutions have shaped the development of Bundoora.
We hope you enjoy learning about the story of your local area and the events and people who shaped this place.
